Governor Masari swears in 34 newly appointed transition committee chairmen


The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Aminu Masari had today the 13th of August  2018 sworn in the 34 newly appointed transition committee chairmen at council chambers of government house, Katsina.

Shortly after the swearing in  the Governor directed newly appointed 34 Transition Committee chairmen not to operate from outside the headquarters of the local governments.

Alhaji Aminu Masari also informed the gathering that the intention was to have an election, but the opposition drag the APC administration to court.

He explained that although they have won the case, the opposition proceeded to Appeal court in Kaduna.

He observed that the court case was meant to prevent the state APC from having a structure at the local government level.

The Governor said although he promised not to break the law but under the circumstances had to bend the law for the emergence of the transition committee chairmen.

He revealed that majority of those appointed are not known to him but hoped that they would discharge their duties to the best of their abilities.

He noted that the screening by the state house of Assembly was meant to give them a semblance of degree of legitimacy.

The Governor announced that they would be given each a list of councillors to assist them in the due discharge of assigned responsibilities.

He reminded them that their performance will determine what the people would wants them to become in future.

Alhaji Aminu Masari revealed that they are taking over almost a bankrupt local government system, adding that they needed to be prudent and accountable in the management of resources.

The swearing in ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, the speaker of katsina state house of assembly, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar kusada and the secretary to the government of the state, Dr Mustapha Inuwa as well as the Katsina based business mogul, Alhaji Dahiru Bara’u Mangal.

Others that attended the ceremony include members of the state house of assembly, members of the state executive council, politicians, businessmen among others.
