Daura Bye-Election: Katsina ruling APC fails to win PDP chairman’s poling unit, ward (See result)
For a record third consecutive times, the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in Katsina failed to win the hometown of the state’s main opposition party the Peoples Democratic Party PDP chairman, Alhaji Salisu Yusuf Majigiri.
Majigiri is a small community in Sabuwar Kasa ward of Mashi Local Government of Katsina State.
In the just concluded Saturday’s Katsina North Senatorial Zone bye-election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have won all the two voting points in Majigiri and also defeated the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Sabuwar Kasa ward.
In Majigiri polling unit II where the Party’s chairman cast his vote, PDP got 299 while APC got 97.
Also, the final result of the Sabuwar Rijiya ward shows that got 1784 while PDP got 1677 votes.
Previews bye-election for the seat of Mashi/Dutsi and subsequent re-run were also won by PDP in the Party’s chairman poling unit and ward.
It could be recalled that while declaring the result, INEC Returning officer for the election, Prof. Hudu Ayuba-Abdullahi, said Babba-Kaita scored 224,607 votes, while his elder brother of Peoples Democratic Party, Kabir Babba-Kaita, scored 59,724 votes at the election.
The Returning officer put the total number of registered voters at 864,046, and the number of accredited voters at 308,500.
