Some intending pilgrims from Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State has had their car plunged into a river on their way to the Ummaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport today.

The first hand information gotten from an eye witness to the tragedy said the driver of the car conveying the pilgrims lost its control when a motorcyclist suddenly crossed in his front.

Both the Federal Road Safety Commission, Katsina command and the state pilgrims welfare board management are yet to react to the development.

Also  casualty as a result of the incident is yet to be known as at the time of filing this report.

It could be recalled that the maiden flight of this year’s Hajj exercise from Katsina state departed on Monday morning with 554 pilgrims.

The airliner, Max air NGL 3021 according to NAHCON left Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport for Madina at about 3.30am. On board the flight are 366 males and 188 females.

Shedding more details, the spokesman of the state pilgrims boad, Badaru Karofi said the pilgrims were drawn from Bakori, Danja, Dandume, Faskari and some parts of Sabuwa and Funtua local governments.
