The Secretary to the Government of the State, SGS Alhaji Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa has lamented with total dismay how according to him the previous administration in Katsina State squandered N26bn between December 2014 to May 2015 when they took over.

Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa made this revelation when a team of journalists from the seven (7) states of the Northwest paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Friday as part of their tour to the state.

While explaining how it all happened, Mustapha Inuwa stated that it is on record that the state has money in its various accounts amounting to not less that N30bn as at December 2014 but when they came into power in May 2015, they could only lay their hands on a mere N4bn.

He, therefore, thanked the team of journalists for coming to the state and also charged them to report objectively whatever they see while on their tour around the state.

Earlier, the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) Katsina Branch commended the state government for being media friendly.

It could, however, be recalled that times without number, the immediate past governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema said his administration left over N14 billion in the coffers of both the state and local government as at May 29, 2015.

Shema also challenged that if Governor Aminu Bello Masari believes otherwise to publish the certified bank account statements of State Government accounts, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, as well as the 34 local governments as at May 29, 2015.
