Since the news of the intention of the Federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of Muhammadu Buhari to build a Transport university in Katsina, residents of Katsina South Senatorial zone started campaigning that it should be situated in Funtua or any town within that axis.

This campaign became vivid and open to the extent that it started generating heated debate in the comment section on our Facebook page under the news of the development that we shared.

Majority of the people commenting are clearly advocating for the University to be sited in Funtua or at least within the Senatorial zone which they said lack any degree awarding institution.

Below are the comments made by some of the residents:

Tasi’u Abubakar said: “It should be located in a zone where there is no degree awarding institution.”
Aliyu Magaji Ibrahim Said: “You people you are always suspicious
You know that this circumstance is OPEN TO EVRY BODY this university is not supposed to be located anywhere in katsina except FUNTUA SENATORIAL ZONE”.

Sulaiman Tukur, however, said: “I won’t mind if they site it at my Town JIKAMSHI.”

Ibrahim Ayuba Said: “The University should be situated in Karadua Zone, in Funtua Local Government Area to be precise.”

However, one Hayatu Baraya had a different view entirely: “It’s a shameful thing to have you all talk about this here. It’s a disgrace, this site I suggest should be cracked down. We are all katsinawa, all Hausa/Fulani and above all muslims. Material things like schools that if built will help boost the entire state’s integrity I suppose would not be an agent of divisions amongst our people. We go to school to not just to have PhDs but to be men of mental magnitude. Therefore, the site to which the school would be built is immaterial. I’m proud to be a Bakatsine.”
