Katsina state government says the Zobe water supply scheme Dutsima, will become functional in the next seven months.

The state deputy Governor Alhaji Mannir yakubu gave the assurance, when he paid an inspection visit to zobe regional water supply project at Dutsinma.

Alhaji Mannir Yakubu recalled that, the masari led administration set up a committee to liaise with Federal ministry of water resources to reactivate the project abandoned since1992.

According to him the liaison gave birth to the signing of memorandum of understanding between the two tiers of government to realize the project.

He commended president Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to complete the project for the benefit of people of the state.

On the issue of access road requested by the contracting firm, the deputy governor instantly set up a comittee to look at it and submit report within a short time.

Earlier, the water engineer from the Federal ministry of water resources engineer Bello Kasimu noted that about twenty billion naira was set aside by the Federal government to remobilize the contractors.

He said, out of the amount fifty Seven billion naira was paid to the contracting firm already.

Engineer Bello added that the laying of pipelines from Dutsima to Katsina is progressing steadly and the machines at the treatment plant overhauling is progressing too.

While speaking, the Yandakan Katsina and district head of Dutsinma Alhaji Sada Mohammed Sada expressed gratitude to Katsina and the Federal government for eventually overcoming the perennial water problem of Dutsinma , Katsina and other neighbouring local governments.
