Daura by-election: Hon. Ahmad Babba Kaita flags off campaign with 3 promises


Hundreds of supporters of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress, APC in Katsina state on Thursday defied rainfall to flag off the party’s campaign ahead of the August 11th Katsina North Senatorial districts bye-election, Vanguard reports.

The party faithful who trooped out in their numbers stormed the Emir of Daura palace arena for the campaign.

Speaking during the flag off, the party’s flag bearer and incumbent member representing Ingawa, Kusada, and Kankia federal constituency, Ahmad Babba Kaita vowed to ensure that the dream of getting a federal Polytechnic in Daura become a thing of reality if elected.

According to him, “the late Senator, Mustapha Bukar has started a good work before death snatched him away. He started by moving a motion before the Senate for the establishment of a Federal University in Daura.

The motion has passed its first reading and the second reading and I will continue from there and ensure that it becomes a reality.

“On the issue of Danladi Dam in Bindawa. We will try our possible best to ensure work continues in the dam. “We will also carry everybody along by providing level playing ground and justice to all,” Kaita said.

Earlier, the State Party chairman, Shittu Shittu called on the party faithful who registered for the Permanent Voters Card, PVC to collect their cards saying information reaching him from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is that there are many cards which the owners were yet to collect them.

Shittu also called on the party to enlighten the voters on their actual candidate, particularly that the aspirants have similar names.

Earlier, the Daura LG party Chairman, Alhaji Sani Al-Tine called on the party supporters to vote for the aspirants saying a vote for the APC flag bearer is a vote for President Muhammadu Buhari while praying for the party’s victory in the upcoming election.

Dignitaries in attendance at the flag off include the State’s Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu who represented the Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, the Speaker, State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Yahaya Kusada and the Secretary to the State Government, Mustapha Inuwa among other government functionaries and political associates.
