Governor Aminu Bello Masari has charged parents to stop living under the illusion that education is free as that era had already gone for good in the state.

Alhaji Aminu Masari was speaking during the speech and prize giving day ceremony of family support schools in Katsina.

The Governor maintained that the responsibility to educate children squarely rest on the shoulders of parents, hence government only needed to provide enabling atmosphere for the educational institutions to offer conducive learning and teaching environment.

Governor Masari therefore appealed to parents to consider the education of their children as a responsibility that they will be questioned before God in the hereafter.

Alhaji Aminu Masari explained that the era when education was believed to be the sole responsibility of government is over.

Despite the large number of children of highly placed civil servants in the school, he said he was surprised to learnt from the PTA chairman that not a single structure was added in the school 20 years after until the coming of the present APC administration in the state.

The Governor assured that the state ministry of environment would look into the request for construction of drainage in the school to avert flooding.

On the request to rename the school, Alhaji Aminu Masari explained that the administration had made it a policy that no structure, road or building would be name after them during their tenure.

He said it is the responsibility of next administration to rename places after if they feels he deserved it.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of prizes to deserving students.

The ceremony was attended by the two wives of the Governor, Hajiya Hadiza and Hajiya zakiyya while the son of the Governor who is the outgoing Head boy Master Bello Aminu Bello also received prizes in English, Physics and Geography.

There were drama and cultural dances by students in the school.
