
Katsina State Government reacts to casual workers protest
The Katsina State Government has said, casual and volunteer workers would only know their stand when it received a committee report on their demand in regard to the issue.
This was subsequently followed couple of days after health casual workers organized a peaceful protest to the government house.
This was made known through permanent secretary, government house, Alhaji Muntari Lawal while addressing some selected member of casual association in the council chamber.
Mr Lawal assured that government is trying its utmost best to ensure casual workers are recruited in to the state civil service.
Commissioner of health Hajiya Mariyatu Bala expressed her unfeigned felt over the issue and sympathize with them. According to her, she don’t want hear even the name “casual” mentioned.
In their remark, chairman of the casual worker’s association Surajo Aliyu Malumfashi reminded the government its various promises of absorbing them as permanent and pensionable staffs.
He also urged the government to settle their allowances for the couple of months back.
The secretary of the association of casual workers Muhammad Lawal Mai’adua also reminded the government that 75 percent of health line is dominated by casual.
He also stated that they would not accept enrollment to S power program as being insinuated in some quarters.
