Colourful, memorable; see the best shots from the historic Katsina Emirate’s ‘Hawan Sallah’
As norm and tradition entails, days like today being the Eid El-fitr, the Katsina State Emirate do usually organised a colourful durbar procession.
During the event, hundreds of people of royal dynasty from different districts do wore traditional attire and rode horses in an orderly manner from the Eid ground in Kofar Guga to the Emir’s palace in Kofar Soro.
Traditionally, the main aim of the procession is to accompany the Emir back to his royal home after he went and observed Eid prayer in the morning.
Also, according to tradition, the Governor usually observed the procession at the pavilion in Kofar Soro and also to welcome the Emir as well as exchange pleasantries.
This year’s Hawan Sallah was exactly as those before it.
