Daily Trust reports that Katsina State government has approved N14.4m for the training of eight medical doctors to boost healthcare delivery system in the state.

This brings to 28 doctors that have so far benefited from the scheme initiated in 2016 in which has so far gulped about N50.4m.

The doctors were sponsored to pursue a specialty in pediatrics, surgery, gynecology, as well as ear, nose, and throat (ENT).

Briefing journalists at the end of the state executive council meeting, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Higher Education, Bishir Ruwan Godiya, said the doctors are indigenes who are permanent and pensionable, adding that they are bonded in the terms of the arrangement.

According to him, the sponsorship runs for six years.

In his remarks, the state Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Tasi’u Dandagoro, said the council reviewed the 71 various types of road construction to assess their status.

He announced plans by the government to complete the abandoned Dubai International Market in which a consulting firm has been engaged to assess levels and report back for next line of action.
