Gallant Immigration officers rescued 38 human trafficking victims in Katsina

The Nigerian Immigration Service Katsina state command has from January to date rescued 38 human trafficking victims and arrested 4 suspected human traffickers in Katsina state.

The state comptroller of the service, Mr. Ajisafe Joshua revealed this to newsmen while parrading nine victims of human trafficking at the Nigerian Immigration Service Headquarters in Katsina.

He identified the victims as Obike Blessing, Joshua Adewolu, Bukola Femi Emmanuel, Ogu Prosfer, Ebeze Doris, Olajide Sunday Olakunle, Rotimi Olufemi, Chinedu Micheal, Musagwo Farida and were between the ages of 21-40 years old.

Mr Ajisafe said 3 suspected victims are from Ogun state, other victims from Abia, Oyo, Imo, Edo, Osun and Enugu state respectively.

He revealed that the victims were rescued at Charanchi Patrol Base checkpoint in the state.

“They started their Journey from Lagos with intention of traveling to Niger Republic to obtain biometric capture for United state of American Visa at American Embassy in Niamey, Niger Republic under the facilitation of one agent named Mr. Balogun Taiwo who is residing in Niamey, Niger Republic.” He said

According to him, the suspected victims will be hand over to the service headquarters Abuja for further investigations.

Mr. Ajisafe, however, appealed to the public to assist the command with vital information about the menace of human trafficking and child labor activities in the state for effective service delivery.
