Katsina primary schools’ pupils performed cultural ‘Tashe’ at government house


The Katsina state Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has assured that the APC administration in Katsina state will continue to renovate and upgrade schools throughout the state. Alhaji Aminu Masari was speaking shortly after pupils of various primary schools within Katsina metropolis conducted the cultural “Tashe ” at government house, Katsina.

The Governor explained that much as he had wanted to avoid recalling what happened in the past, but facts must be stated as they are for history to take proper perspective. He recalled that successive administrations have neglected schools, which made them to be recording 200 to 300 pupils per class in the schools.

He recalled that when he visited kahutu to inspect a road, he came to face with grim reality where he saw three primary schools with buildings on the ground. He however assured that the continued flow of revenue from will enable his administration to on monthly basis put up ten blocks of classrooms in the state.

Governor Masari however requested parents to show more interest in the educational development of their pupils, adding that there was need for parents to ensure that children attend to schools instead of allowing them to roam the streets after leaving home for schools. The Governor praised the spectacular performance of the pupils in both staging of the Tashe and Drama on the stage of learning and teaching in the schools.

Alhaji Aminu Masari granted the prayers of the pupils in seeking for Hajj seats for the Head teacher of Hamza Maigoro memorial primary school and the education secretary of Katsina local government. He assured that some of the pupils that requested for upgrading of their buildings to have a story building would be granted with their prayers .

In a remark, the Executive chairman of the state basic education board, Alhaji Lawal Buhari Daura expressed gratitude to the Governor for allowing the pupils on annual basis to be showcasing the culture of people of the state through the Tashe by the pupils. He assured that board would continue to implement policies geared towards revamping the dwindling fortunes of education in the state.

In an address earlier on, the Executive Director of Katsina state History and culture Bureau who is also the sarkin Askan Yariman Katsina expressed gratitude to governor Masari for according proper attention to restoring the historical and cultural identity of Katsina and Daura people.

He used the occasion to announced that Katsina state had awarded contract for the complete renovation, rehabilitation and upgrade of the open air theatre along Jibiya road in Katsina.

The sarkin Aska revealed that since the construction of the Theatre in 1998, not a single administration offered to give attention to the structure until the coming of governor Masari. He revealed that the Bureau had been winning prizes, trophies and laurels during the NAFEST and other organized Fiestas in the country.

The event saw primary school pupils displaying good performance in The Tashe and Drama.

The secretary to the government of Katsina state, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, the former speaker of Katsina state house of assembly, Alhaji Aliyu Sabi’u Muduru and some personal aide to the Governor watched the pupils performance in the Tashe and Drama.
