Masari empowers 1000 female physically challenged persons in Katsina

The Katsina state Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari says the APC administration In Katsina state has been trying during the ongoing Congress to comply with party’s constitutional provision on disabled people.

Alhaji Aminu Masari was speaking during the presentation of empowerment packages to 1000 female physically challenged persons at multipurpose women centre, Filin Samji, Katsina.

The Governor explained that APC’s constitution had spelt out that an office must be preserved for physically challenged persons at ward,local government, state and national chapters of the party.

He assured that the APC administration in the state would continue to design policies and programmes to improve the socia-economic well being of the physically challenged persons In the state.

This, he asserted would be done to curtail street begging in the state, adding that the bill for the re-establishment of the state Rehabilitation Board is before the state house of assembly for consideration.

He said the empowerment packages being presented was part of the programme to make them comfortable during the holy month of Ramadan. Earlier, the state commissioner of women Affairs, Hajiya Badiyya Hassan Mashi expressed gratitude to the Governor for the provision of the empowerment packages for her ministry to take Care of the female physically challenged persons in the state.

She expressed the hope that the beneficiaries would reciprocate the gesture through supporting government policies and programmes.

In a goodwill message, the chairman of joint association of Disabled people, Alhaji Garba Nahuta told the Governor that they are aware that he had approved 22 million Naira to the office of special Adviser on physically challenged persons for a census to be conducted to ascertain their population but lamented that the monies were not released to the office.

Alhaji Garba Nahuta area requested the Governor to direct for the release of the monies, adding that ascertaining the population of physically challenged persons would help area to plan welfare packages to them.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Aminu Masari for the numerous welfare packages he had been providing to their members since assumption into office in 2015, stressing that since the creation of Katsina state, no administration had done to them what Governor Masari is doing to them now.

Highlight of the occasion was the flag off of the distribution of the empowerment packages by the Governor.
