The Katsina state government says it is committed toward uplifting economic and social standard of women and has empowered no less than 20,000 women on vocational skills, agriculture and other small-scale businesses in the state.
They were empowered between 2015 and 2018.
Dr. Badiyya Hassan Mashi, the state commissioner for women affairs disclosed this at the 7th annual Women Handcraft Exhibition Fair organized by the ministry in collaboration with ALIYOS Trade Promoters Association held at Multi-purpose women center in Katsina.
The commissioner stated that “Katsina state government is initiating various policies and programmes aimed at making youths and women self-reliant which if properly utilized will promote peace and security as well as reducing unemployment”.
While speaking, the wife of the state governor, Hajiya Binta Masari who was represented by a businesswoman Hajiya Rabi Isyaku Yantumaki called on women in the state support government policies for more dividend of democracy.
In a remark, the chairman of the ALIYOS Trade Promoters Association, Alhaji Rilwanu Aliyu said over 5000 people benefit from the annual event.
The highlight of the event includes award presentation to the honorable commissioner along with three others.
