Katsina state government has this morning sealed up Globacom telecommunication service over unpaid taxes totalling about N400m. Daily trust reports
The company’s base station at police barrack and it’s customer service outlet located along Kofar Kaura are both closed down.
The General Manager of the state Urban and Regional Planning Board, Usman Nadada who led officials and security personnel said the company has maintained deaf ears to government efforts to ensure the company settle the taxes owed monies.
He said, the money owed was for the last four years and are made up off tenement rates, withholding taxes on rent, property taxes amongst others
‘ we visited their headquarters in Lagos three times, issued 6 demands notices and reminders all to no avail, we are left with no other option than to sealed up their services in the state’ he said.
It may interest you to note that all the other network providers are complying and up to date with taxes and even doing several social responsibilities like e- library and health outreach but Glo is left out, he added.
He said, Globacom has left the government with no option and shall follow all due processes to recover it’s owed money.
