Some aspirants at the just concluded APC ward congress in Katsina have raised concern over the exercise which they claimed was marred by irregularities.
However, the chairman of the state ward congress election committee and Deputy National Treasurer of APC, Barrister Zakari Tanko has dismissed the claims saying that election were smooth and rancour free in line with the tenets of the APC.
The aspirants, Hassanu Isah, Abubakar Damale and Abu Awwalu in a chat news men alleged that the electoral officials sent from the national headquarters of the party were hijacked by officials of the state government.
“These officials sat in the government house and other un designated venues and filled the result sheets with the names of people selected by government officials’ they alleged
Reacting to the allegation, Tanko said as far as the committee is concern there has not been any formal reported complain before us saying that results of 30 LGA’s out of the 34 have been collated.
While commending the exercise, Tanko Said candidates were provide a level playing playing ground for all noting that “In those areas where there are no contest, we have the permission of the National headquarters to conduct our congress via consensus’ he said.
