Corruption: Katsina Police Commissioner reads riot act to DPOs, Area Commanders
The Katsina State Police Command, on Wednesday, admonished its men and officers across the state to shun corruption and other acts detrimental to the development of Nigeria Police Force.
Mohammed Wakili, the State Commissioner of Police gave the warning while on a familiarization tour and town hall meeting with stakeholders in all the 34 local government areas of the state.
Kakara Division, Kaita Division, Katsina Division, Jibia Division, Malumfashi Division, Batagarawa Division and Daura Division were amongst the 17 police divisions visited by the state police chief during the familiarization tour.
Independent newspaper reports that during the tour, the police chief also lectured his men and officers on the need to maintain discipline, respect for human rights and hard work.
CP Wakili said, “I warn you to eschew corruption, and do not solicit money for bail. I am directing the Area Commanders/DPOs to write boldly at their respective offices that “Bail is Free”.
The state police boss noted that the command under his watch would not hesitate to punish any policeman found extorting money from the members of the public.
He urged parents to inculcate moral values in their children in order to desist from political thuggery, drugs abuse, rape and other social vices.
While soliciting for support and cooperation of the general public towards providing useful and timely information to the police, CP Wakili vowed to treat any information given to the command with ultimate confidentiality.
