The Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre, the organizers of, the Zik Award price has bestowed the year 2017 Zik prize in Good Governance on Katsina state Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari. The award presentation was done at the civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
In a remark,both the chairman of the Advisory board of the Centre, Professor Jibril Aminu and the chairman of the Award committee, who is also the former Nigerian Ambassador to United States, Professor George Obiozor described Governor Masari as an experienced politician.
He said as a Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari had brought in a most innovative approach in governance in the state.
The approach, according to him had brought massive upsurge and infrastructural and human development, which opened up Katsina state to the world in a most unprecedented way.
The Award chairman explained that Governor Masari’s commitment to the implementation of restoration agenda is already yielding positive dividends of democracy to the people.
Highlight of the Award was the presentation, where the National chairman of APC, chief John odigie oyegun, the Senate leader, Alhaji Ahmad Lawan, Governors of Kebbi and sokoto, Alhaji Aminu waziri Tambuwal and Alhaji Atiku Bagudo, the Deputy Governor of Katsina state, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, senator Umar Ibrahim Kurfi and senator Abu Ibrahim, the speaker of Katsina state house of assembly, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar Kusada and Alhaji Dahiru Bara’u Mangal all mounted the podium to accompany the Governor to receive the award.
The former secretary of the Commonwealth, chief Emeka Anyaoku presented the award to Governor Aminu Bello.
In an acceptance speech, Governor Masari expressed appreciation to the organizers of the Award for recognizing them for the honour.
Governor Masari assured that they would not fail the organizers,who found them worthy of the Award.
He said he was happy with the non partisanship in the Award as people from all walks of life were selected to benefit from the Award ceremony.
Governor Masari expressed the hope that the beneficiaries of the Award would put in their best for the service of the people.
The award ceremony was attended by the Deputy governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, the secretary to the state government, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, members of the state executive council, members of the state house of assembly, members of the National Assembly, members of the political and business class among others.
Other recipients of the 2017 Zik Award include the Governor of Rivers state, Barrister Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Audu Ogbe, former National chairman of ACN Chief Adebisi Akande, chairman of Fidelity Bank, Mr Earnest Ebi, chairman of pacific Holdings, Dr Adedeji Adeleke, the wife of Anambra state Governor, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano and the wife of Bauchi state Governor, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Abubakar.
