The federal government will complete the abandoned Kankara-Gurbi road in Kankara, Katsina state. This was made known by the Controller, Federal ministry of works in Katsina, Mr. Tunde Bologun when he led a team of inspectors to the project site in company of Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara.

The abondoned 6 kilometre road was awarded at the cost of 1.4 bn on the 4th of December, 2013 by the then Goodluck Jonathan administration.

The inspectors’ visit was sequel to an appeal made by the people of the area which the District Head forwarded to the federal ministry of works. Speaking during the visit, the Kanwa of Katsina, expressed his appreciation by the visit and further stressed the importance of the road for the socio-economic development of the area. He noted that, the road links communities of Tsamiyar-Jino, Gurbi, Danmurabu and Katantau among others.
The District Head also charged the federal controller to ensure that the contractor resume on site as scheduled to complete the project for the benefit of the communities.

It could be recalled that the contract was awarded by the federal government in 2013 to alleviate the difficulties face by the communities in transporting farm produce.
