UMYUK 3rd convocation: 9 students bags first class degrees


No fewer than nine (9) students graduated with first class degrees as  1,397 students graduated dduring the 2016/2017 academic session of the Ummaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina. 

Also, the breakdown of the total number of students who have graduated in the same period shows that 1,290 students were for first degrees while 107 are post graduats students.‎


Also while speaking at the 3rd convocation ceremony of the state-owned Umaru Musa Yar’adua University UMYU, the Katsina State Governor Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari said the state government has approved the employment of 1,000 watchmen for all its secondary schools, Governor Aminu Masari has said.

This decision according to him, was taken into consideration the present security situations across the country especially in the boarding secondary schools.

To develop and improve the standard at the Government-owned tertiary institution, Masari said, the administration has recently approved the recruitment of both academic and non academic staff for its Hassan Usman polytechnic and another process is in the pipeline for the employment of requisite academic and non academic staff for Isa Kaita college of Education Dutsinma.

According to him, to increase students enrolment into the tertiary institution, about N445m was approved for payment of WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS registration fees for 36,941 students that qualified adding that ‘ N60m has been released for payment of Teacher Trainee Special Scholarship Scheme for NCE I-III.

Earlier, the pro chancellor of the university, Ambassador Zakari Ibrahim stressed the need for improve funding giving the expansion programmes being embarked upon at the institute.
