The State represented Nigeria at the International Science, Engineering Technology Festival held from Saturday 17th to Friday 23rd March 2018 in Monastir, Tunisia.

Katsina State contingent comprising of 3 Students namely Zaharadden Suleman, Mustapha Kabir and Ahmed Sa’idu as well as the supervisor Yazid Ahmed and other officials from the Ministry of Education won Bronze Medals with their project titled “Multipurpose Thermal Solar Collector System.

This is contained in a statement signed by Salisu Lawal Kerau, Public Relations Officer of Katsina State’s ministry of Education and gotten by katsinapost.com. 

According to the statement, the device is designed to do multi functions such as warming of water from solar energy, collection of distilled water for injections and laboratory purposes, incubation of eggs among others.

The device can collect solar energy of up 79°c that can be used to perform the mentioned functions.

The project is very vital to control wastages of Guinea Fowl eggs laid in the rural areas but can not be hatched due excessive number but ended up as waste.

Over 22 Countries participated at the international event with about 300 projects presented by over 1000 participants.

His Excellency the Executive Governor of Katsina State Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari graciously approved and  sponsored  the trip of the Katsina State contingent, this is in line with the Governor’s commitment and resolve to reposition Education in the State.

The success of Katsina State at this international event testifies to the potentials of Katsina State Students especially in Science and Technology and serves as a very good avenue for them to showcase their talents to the International Community and exposes the Students to new ideas in Scientific research and Technology.

The event also provided an opportunity  to the Students for a wonderful tour of  wonder tourist attraction in Southern Tunisia.

It is on record the State won the first position  and became the national Champions  at the similar competition  organised in November  2017 by Solar Energy Society of Nigeria held at African University of Science and Technology in Abuja.
