The joint operation committee on the control and abuse and sale of illicit drugs in Katsina state has intercepted trailer truck loaded with 3000 cartons of codeine and other illicit drugs worth N200 million naira in Funtua.
The chariman of the committee, Alhaji Aminu Usman Koguna stated this during press briefing at the NDLEA headquarters in Katsina.
The chairman said, “The intercepted truck come from Onitsha, Anambra state and was intercepted in Funtua town with over 3000 cartons of different drugs”.
According to him, the committee utilizes information from the public to be able to achieve success.
He further revealed that the seized drugs have been handed over to NDLEA for further investigation.
The chairman also reiterated the Katsina government commitment toward controlling the menace of drug abuse in the state noting that the committee will not relent in the effort to arrest the perpetrators of illicit drugs.
Also speaking, the Katsina state commander of the NDLEA, Hajiya Maryam Gambo Sani said the Funtua area command of the agency succeeded in the arrest after getting an information from the public.
