Update: Bill to establish Federal Polytechnic Daura passes Second reading
News reaching us at katsinapost.com has it that the bill to establish a Federal Polytechnic has passed Second reading on the floor of the Senate yesterday.
The bill sponsored by the Senator representing Katsina North, Senator Mustapha Bukar which was listed in the Senate order paper was brought up during the Senate sitting by the House Leader, Senator Ibn Na’Allah which was subsequently deliberated upon.
It was gathered that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and other Senators contributed to the debate and unanimously supported the bill.
The bill was thereafter referred to the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions for further legislative actions and also asked to submit their report back to the Senate in four (4) weeks time.
It could be recalled that in June last year, the Senate has commenced the process of establishing Federal University In Daura, Katsina state in a move to straitened technical education in the country.
The bill to establish the institution was tagged ” Federal Polytechnic, Daura (Est, etc) Bill, 2017 (SB, 465) first presented to the Senate by the senator representing Katsina North Senator Mustapha Bukar and have scaled the first reading.
Speaking on the proposal, Bukar said the establishment of the polytechnic would assist in fast-tracking the development of the country.
