Katsina Health workers protests lack of 16 months CONHESS salary arrears
Katsina State members of the Medical and Health Workers union has blast the state Governor Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari for not paying some of their members salary arrears of between 8 to 16 months.
While speaking with newsmen, the state’s union Chairman Comrade Hussaini Hamisu said about 8450 members were affected across the 34 LGA’s of the state.
According to him, the union demand the immediate payment of their hard earned monies as it’s non payment is causing a lot of inconveniences on the health workers and consequently affecting the state’s health sector.
He added that it was the Governor who promised to settle all their outstanding arrears during the inaugural meeting of the verification committee held in June 2016.
According to him, the verification committee had since concluded its varification and made its submission to government but up to now non of their members were paid.
“The the union thought that by now the issue would have been buried and long forgotten” he said.
He also added that: ” Our members are going through untold hardship following the non payment of their entitlements and called for its release to enable the workers continue to put in their best at their respective work places.
“Health workers have sacrifice a lot to make the health sector an enviable one and paying us our arrears would definitely ginger us to rededicate ourselves to saving lives.” He added.
