The people of Tandama village in Danja local government of Katsina state have on Monday night shocked by the attack of armed men suspected to be Kidnappers assumed to be targeting the former majority leader of Katsina state House of Assembly, Abdullahi Tandama and Alhaji Sufyanu Jibril.
People confronted the kidnappers, chased them and succeeded in killing two of them. However, a teenager known as Nasiru was hit by a stray bullet on his head.
Speaking with our correspondent, an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incidence adding that ” it was around 12:55 midnight that I began to hear the sporadic gunshots. I heard them saying shoot anyone at sight.
”They took away Alhaji Sufyanu Jibril from his house and were trying to broke in to Abdullahi Tandama’s house. I was shock that I began to shout for help . That’s how they abandoned Alhaji Sufyan to run for their lives. They were shooting sporadically to allow them escape and unfortunately, a stray bullet hit a teenager, Nasiru at his head and died as a result”.
Another person who witnessed the incidence, Abubakar Tandama told our correspondent that ” the killing of the boy was what angered people to further confront them despite the sporadic shootings by two armed men who give cover to the other robbers. With the support from the neighboring villages we were so close to getting them that one of them fall and was killed by the angry villagers.
“The other one who wears army uniform runs out of ammunition and surrendered were he was killed by the angry mob. His gun is now under police custody.”
“It was the village Head of Tandama that briefed the police when they arrived and also pleaded with them to give him the lifeless body of Nasiru for funeral rites. He was buried in the early hours of Tuesday” He said
Abubakar further states that; police have taken the corpse of the suspected kidnappers to the local headquarters of Danja.
Katsina post gathered that nobody knows the exact number of the suspected kidnappers but popular opinion have placed them in the region of 15. It is not certain weather they ride on vehicle or they were barefooted.
The corpses were later transferred to the mortuary of General Hospital, Funtua as police are still investigating the matter.
