The Peoples Democratic Party in Katsina today organised  a one day retreat aimed at restrategising its operation towards reclaiming the state in 2019. Daily trust reports

The retreat for the first time draws top party members like its 2015 gubernatorial candidate Musa Nashuni, his deputy Gambo Bakori, former Deputy Governor Garba Faskari, Umar Tata, former Members of National and state Assembly, ex chairmen of local governments amongst others.
The only notable absentee was former Governor Ibrahim Shema who sends his blessings through the party chairman. Shema absence our reporter gathered was largely for security reasons as his coming may cause some frictions leading to chaos especially with APC supporters.
Speaking at the opening session, The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Umar Tsauri said the PDP is being repositioned to reclaim power noting that the APC is making such moves easier giving their increasing detachment to the people.
He said, “the party shall maintain zero tolerance to imposition of candidates and will provide a level  playing ground for all noting that ‘ the PDP is being re branded ahead of 2019 elections”
According to him, the PDP is mentoring  a new generation of young Nigerians that will take our nation to a greater high saying that PDP is now the party to beat.
In his remarks, the state party chairman Salisu Majigiri said the APC administration in the state has backtracked the solid foundation of development laid by the party from 1999-2015 when it held sway in the state.
He said the time has come for the people to reflect and choose between the two party’s noting that our achievements are visible that even a blind man can see, feel and touch.
