The three political parties in Katsina State that actively participated in the yesterday’s election have commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful conduct of the Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency by-election in Katsina State.
Alhaji Sani Danlami, who is a member of the National Assembly, representing Katsina Central Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress has on Saturday commended INEC in Mashi during the conduct of the supplementary re-run election.
According to Hon. Sani Danlami, INEC has done well by providing level playing ground for all the parties.
“We are happy that INEC has provided enough electoral materials to all the 15 polling units in the two local governments,” he said.
Also, the Former PDP State Chairman and Deputy gubernatorial candidate in the 2015 general election, Alhaji Rabiu Gambo also commended INEC and the security agencies for conducting a smooth and peaceful by-election.
According to him, the election was free from ballot box snatching, complaints and fighting.
In his contribution, the Representative of People Redemption Party (PRP), Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed, said the election was peaceful as no political thug was allowed near the voting centres.
Mohammed called on security agencies to be neutral in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
However, the Independent National Electoral Commission has yesterday, Saturday declared Honourable Mansur Ali Mashi of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), as the winner of the supplementary election into the Mashi/Dutsi Federal constituency.
The returning officer, Professor Hudu Ayuba, announced that Mansur Ali Mashi of the APC scored 2,567 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Honourable Nazifi Yusuf scored 893 votes in the 15 poling units that the rerun took place.
