The chairman of the forum of concern pensioners Katsina state, Malam Musa Ibrahim, has revealed that pensioners in Katsina state were ready to support re-election of President Buhari and that of Governor Aminu Bello Masari in 2019.
The chairman made the statement when the group paid a courtesy visit to the governor yesterday in his office at Muhammadu Buhari house, Katsina.
According to him, Masari deserved re-election over the provision of amenities, timely payment of pensions, gratuities to the retirees and development projects in the state.
While speaking, governor Masari revealed that his administration has so far spent N22.4 billion on the payment of gratuities and pensions to retired civil servants between 2015 and to April, 2017.
He said N11 billion was disbursed on the payment of gratuities and pensions in 2015 while N7.4 billion was disbursed in 2016 and N4 billion in April, 2017.
He also said that the state government would establish a Contributory Pension Agency.
