Governor Masari won an IMPORTANT award on agriculture


The Katsina state Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has been bestowed with an award of excellence on mechanization of Agriculture in the state.

The award was presented to the Governor by Tractors Owners and operators Association of Nigeria- TOOAN.

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Governor Aminu Masari assured that the present APC administration would not relent efforts in boosting mechanized agriculture through tractors and other implements.

The Governor assured that the government would not buy tractors and distribute almost free of charge but would facilitate for farmers to obtain them and pay instalmentally as is being done now.

He was happy that the beneficiaries of the 225 units of tractors to farmers through their associations had started paying back to the Indian company- MAHINDRA that supplied the tractors.

Alhaji Aminu Masari  lamented that tractors were being purchased and distributed to politicians, friends and cronies without proper repayments procedures thereby making government to serve as a charitable organization.

He assured that the present APC administration would continue to partner with relevant stakeholders to boost agricultural production in the state.

Speaking before presenting the award , the chairman of national body of TOOAN, Mr. Elisha Bitrus Yakubu said the Governor was earlier during the launching of distribution of tractors awarded with National Grand Patron of the Association.

Mr. Elisha said following the actualization of the tractors loan project to farmers, the Association now capped it with an award of excellence as no any other Governor executed the tractor project through out the federation.

Others who received award during the occasion include the minister of agriculture, chief Audu ogbeh, the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu as the state commissioner of agriculture and the special adviser to the Governor on agriculture, Dr. Abba Abdullahi.

In a goodwill messages from the special adviser, Dr. Abba Abdullahi who traced the history of the Masari mechanization of agriculture to the first visit to India.

Dr Abba said the state government mediated between TOOAN, Indian company- spring field Mahindra  and the bank.

Also goodwill messages were presented by Mahindra and NIJI tractors, Ibadan and the chairman of state branch of TOOAN, Alhaji Yusuf Ali among others.

Highlight of the award ceremony was presentation of the award to the awardees by the National chairman and the inspection of tractors on display.
