​NPFL 2017/2018 OPENING DAY DRAMA​

Players and officials of Katsina United and Kano Pillars FC returned to the dressing rooms in agony after the match due to the tear gas they smoked in the Muhammad Dikko stadium Katsina due to the protest that erupted immediately after their epic encounter.

Police men used the tear gas to control the crowd of fans who started throwing stones, bottles of water and chairs into the field immediately after the match.

Kano Pillars FC medical officer and first goal scorer of the season Junior Lokosa was rushed to their dressing room unconscious due the throwing objects thet hit them and the tear gas they smoked.

When contacted the spokesman of ‘Sai Masu Gida’, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa confirmed the incidence and informed our reporter that it took the effort of the officials of Federal Road Safety Corps, Katsina Command to escort them outside the Katsina metropolis and head to Kano State.

Malikawa further stated that all what happened, happened in the presence of the match officials and have the confidence that they will report it to the league management accordingly.

“We are not happy with what happened at Muhammad Dikko Stadium and we hope the authorities concern will take drastic measures to stop this unsportmanship  for the progress of the league” Malikawa said.

The match ended 2-2, Junior Lokosa put the sai masu Gida ahead in the 37 minutes and Chinedu Ajaana equalized to chanji boys at 45+5 minutes.

The first half ended 1-1 and both team returned to second half in high spirit and Alassan Ibrahim  scored the second goal to Kano Pillars FC with a powerful shot out side the box and Katsina United FC levelled the scored at 90+5 through penalty after kano pillars fc defender handle the ball in side the box.

The ‘Sai Masu Gida’ will next host Nasarawa United FC in the day two of the season on Wednesday at Sani Abacha Stadium Kofar Mata Kano.
