Just In: Masari accept PDP Chairman’s ‘challenge’ to public debate

The ruling APC in Katsina State has said its leader, Governor, Aminu Masari, will be only too happy to accept your challenge to a debate, anywhere, anytime to once again prove to the good people of Katsina state that their decision to reject the PDP at the polls in 2015 has not been in vain.

Katsina State APC Chairman, Shitu Shitu, however, at a press conference in Katsina yesterday, said the state leadership of the party was ready and willing to face the PDP Chairman in the State, Salisu Majigiri, and the opposition anytime anywhere for a debate.

Majigiri had last week challenged Masari to an open debate, but the APC said the challenge should have been directed to its leadership which had what it took to confront the PDP.

Shitu, represented by the APC Vice Chairman for Funtua Zone, Bala Musawa, described the “recent ranting” of the opposition chairman as “baseless and the crying of a dying party.”

He said Katsina PDP was only counting days as “all the so-called big shots like a former Speaker of the House of Assembly, a deputy speaker, and many other chieftains had deserted it for the APC,” he said.

It could be recalled that former Speaker of the Katsina assembly, Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo, alongside many of his supporters, recently dumped the PDP and joined the APC.
