Katsina state Governor, Aminu Masari, has expressed sadness over the demise of the former military governor of the state, Colonel John Yahaya Madaki.
Masari, in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, described late Colonel Madaki as a gallant officer and gentleman who was totally committed to the military institution and any duty assigned to him.
He died yesterday, the 8th of January, 2018 afternoon in Abuja.
Governor Masari said Madaki’s passing would echo beyond his military constituency.
Madaki born in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger state, was Katsina governor from December 1989 to January 1992.

The deceased was commanding officer of the 123 Guards Battalion at Ikeja during the 1985 coup which brought General Ibrahim Babangida to power.
Madaki was an influential member of the Catholic Church and was a holder of the Order of St. Gregory (KSG) awarded by the Pope in 2009.
