Four persons arrested by police for alleged intimidation, terrorising and extortion of passersby along Katsina government house – also known as Muhammadu Buhari House – road have been arraigned before a magistrate’s court, Daily Trust reports.
The suspects are Abdullahi Ado, 35, of Kofar Marusa; Nura Bashiru, 27, of Sharada picnic quarters; Umar Farouk of Rahamawa quarters and Nazifu Aliyu of Kofar Marusa.
The accused were arrested by the state Commissioner of Police Command Surveillance team and later brought to the SCID for interrogation before the arraignment.
A police first information report (FIR) deposited at he court showed that the suspects were found at Katsina State government house road terrorising members of the public by forcefully collecting their money and other valuable properties. They have also been previously arrested, tried and convicted in various courts of law for different degrees of criminal offences.
They are therefore charged for the offence of belonging to a gang of thieves, contrary to sections 96 and 306 of the penal code law.”
Already, the court led by Magistrate Falila Diko has fixed Tuesday January 9, 2018, for mention of the case.
