Katsina state government has donated cash and empowerment tools to 58 treated Vesocovaginal Fistula patients to make them self-reliant after completing their rounds of treatment.

While donating the items by the state Commissioner of Women Affairs, Dr. Badiyya Hassan Mashi at the Obstetric Fistula Centre in Katsina, she revealed that the gesture was part of the APC electioneering campaign promises to assist less privilege in the state.

The commissioner disclosed that the beneficiaries were trained on skills that include tailoring, pomade making, knitting, poultry and farming techniques among others.

She noted that the decision to train them on skills acquisition was according to her to make them self-reliant and enable them to cater for their daily needs.

Mashi averred that the state government accommodates and feed the beneficiaries throughout the period of their three-month training.

The commissioner disclosed that the participants were supported with working tools as an incentive from Katsina government and would all be transported back to the various places of residence.

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of the Obstetric Fistula Centre, Babbar Ruga, Katsina, Dr. Yalladan stated that so far the centre has on admission 100 VVF patients.
