The Katsina Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Katsina has arrested four suspected street light vandals in the state capital.
While parading the suspects at the state command headquarters, the public relations officer of the Corps, ASC Aliyu Jamilu BK stated that the suspects were apprehended by men of the Anti-vandal unit of the corps on night patrol in the Katsina Metropolis.
He said the command received various complains of the vandalisation of the solar powered street lights installed by the state government on all the major streets of the state and immediately initiated various forms of measures to contain the negative trend. As a result, various stop and search checkpoints were initiated in addition to the massive night patrol across the metropolis. He said the four men arrested are Samuel Shenini ‘M’ 36yrs, Daddy Josua ‘M’ 35, David Danjuma ‘M’ 23 and the buyer of the stolen properties David Jideofo ‘M’ 27 yrs old.
He warns that the corps will never relent in its bid to rid the state out of all vandals, and that nobody who is caught in the act would be spared. He further called on the members of the general public to be more patriotic by safe guarding the infrastructures and other public goods provided by the government.
He commended the members of the general public over their support and cooperation to the command and urged them to do more.
While responding to questions from the press, the prime suspect, Daddy Josua said this is his first time of committing such offence and that he has regretted his actions.
The suspects were arraigned before the Federal High court Katsina for prosecution and sentencing accordingly.
