In an international friendlies between Nigeria and Niger Republic, the Volleyball and Basketball teams of the Federal University Dutsin-ma has on Thursday and Friday trashed the X-Lions teams of the Niger Republic in both matches played at the Mohamed Sidi Du Stadium, Agadez to 4-3 and 3-0 respectively.
FUDMA team departed Nigeria for Niger on Wednesday 21st December 2017 and arrived early morning on Thursday.
After just taking a short repose, the two teams were conveyed to the Niger Republic’s National Stadium in Agadez were both teams played a mouth watering matches.
Volleyball team captained by Yusuf Umar Usman were unlucky to lost their first match at 1-3, whereas the Basketball team captained by Buhari Dalhat Sada were luckiest to emerge victorious with 42 points against 39.
Captain Yusuf lamented lack of enough rest after traveling for over 32 hours to Niger Republic coupled with environmental challenges that triggered their under performance.
Meanwhile, on Thursday while playing their second matches; both teams from Nigeria emerges with wide margin victories thereby winning the Golden Statue Award.
The Volleyball team trashed their opponents 3-0 straight, thereby winning the two games on 4-3 aggregate. While the basketball team recorded another victory with 57 to 44 against the X-Lions.
The two games played were in a bid to tie another relationship between the two countries.
A renowned business mogul and politician Elhadji Mohamed Akomili, was the one who take care of all logistics of the visiting team from Nigeria, and in return the FUDMA team appreciated his gesture by issuing a Certificate of Honor to him on behalf of the management of the Federal University Dutsin-ma signed by the University’s Director of Sports Dr. Y.M Matazu and Comrade Ismail Abdullahi, the President of the Students Union Government (SUG).
Elhadji Akomili expressed his gratitude to Professor Armayau Hamisu Bichi for giving the teams this golden opportunity to tour the Agadez, Niger Republic and also by giving him such an important Certification. He promised to organize his own team for a visit to Nigeria, Katsina, Federal University Dutsin-ma for the same purpose coming next year.
