The Katsina state police command has warned people of the state to desist from the use of fireworks, knockouts, and firecrackers in the state ahead of Christmas celebration.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command public relation officer; DSP Gambo Isah and made available to newsmen in the state.
The statement reads:
“Katsina state Police Command, while wishing the good people of Katsina state a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year Celebrations do hereby want to inform the general public that the use of fireworks, knockout and crackers, before, during and after the Christmas/New Year celebrations has been banned. Any violations will attract the wrath of the Law. You are warned.
- The Command is mindful of the fact that these devices are “Explosives” capable of causing unnecessary fear and apprehension among our communities. To this end, the Command is sending a strong warning to dealers in these dangerous explosives to stay away from Katsina or else they will be arrested and prosecuted.
- The Command wants to urge parents/guardians to monitor closely and warn their children/wards against the use of fire crackers/knock outs during this festive period as any person caught flouting this order will be arrested and prosecuted, please.
