Fuel Scarcity: DPR seals 9 fuel stations for hoarding, pump price increase in Katsina
No fewer than nine petrol stations in Katsina State have been sealed by the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, over alleged product diversion and price hike above the legal N145 per litre pump price. Vanguard Newspaper, reports.
This is even as the agency also sealed eight petrol stations in Kadunaover offences ranging from hoarding to tampering with fuel pumps.
DPR Area Operations Manager for Katsina, Engineer Yusuf Shehu, who disclosed the development shortly after he led his team to carry out inspection on fuel sale in filling stations in the state capital, said the nine fuel stations were sealed within the last one week and will not be opened until they served all the penalties meted out on them.
He said: “In the past one week, we have sealed off no fewer than nine fuel stations for fuel diversification and selling fuel above the pump priceof N145. We shall not lift the sanctionuntil they pay the penalties meted on them.”
Meanwhile, in Kaduna State, the Headof Downstream Monitoring and Operations of DPR, Engineer Yahaya Maishara, said the fuel scarcity being experienced across the country was the result of panic buying and hoarding by some of the marketers.
