The congregation members of Federal University Dutsin-ma have constituted an electoral committee which conducted an election of members to serve on the Search Team for selection of new Vice Chancellor.
The event which was conducted on Thursday, 14th December, 2017 at the University’s Badminton Hall, Sports Complex led to the election of 2 members of congregation to serve on the team.
In his opening remarks, the Acting Vice Chancellor & Chairman, FUDMA congregation, Professor Armayau H. Bichi expressed his gratitude to Almighty God for the honor, privilege and opportunity to stand before the congress and welcomed all members to the 4th meeting of the congregation.
“As you may be aware, congregation is one of the statutory organs of the University as provided in the University’s (Miscellaneous provisions) Decree 11 of 1993 as amended and in the Federal University Dutsin-ma establishment Act”, Prof. Bichi said.
In his speech, the Registrar & Secretary to the Congregation, Aliyu Dalha Kankia recalled that the first FUDMA congregation meeting was held on 25th February, 2015, followed by the 2nd Congregation on 12th November, 2015, while the third congregation took place on 27th March, 2017, and 4th congregation meeting was held on 14th December, 2017.
An Electoral Committee was nominated by the congregation to conduct the election, it comprised of Dr. Nabinta Ruth as Chairman, Dr. Mansur Abubakar Wara, Christiana Aniekwe and Abubakar Isma’ila as members.
Highlight of the event was the election of 2 members to represent the congregation in the search team to select new Vice Chancellor, the ELCOM condition was that, one candidate must emerge from Academic Section while the second representative must be a non-teaching staff.
Two candidates were nominated by the congress for teaching staff, Prof. Benjamin Abu Ladani and Prof. Rasheed Hamzaat.
Dr. Nabinta while declaring the election result said that out of the 272 members of congregation who casted their votes during the election, the Dean of Education, Prof. Benjamin Abu Ladani polled a total of 208 votes while the Coordinator of General Studies, Prof. Rasheed Hamzaat has 64 votes.

Prof. Ladani was declared was the candidate to represent the Academic Staff in the Search Team while Musa Muhammad who happened to be unopposed candidate from Registry Department emerged the representative of the non academic staff in the team.
The Chairman of Congregation Standing Committee, Dr. Yecho said there was no victor no vanquish in the election.
