Not fewer than 479 women benefit from The Katsina State Government’s women empowerment, trade, and skills acquisition programme.
The commissioner for women affairs Dr. badiyya Hassan Mashi made the statement while distributing empowerment equipment to the 2011-2017 trainees of Hindatu Abdullahi multipurpose center women center in Katsina.
Dr. Badiyya stated that the state government earmarked over N20 million for women empowerment programmes, assisting vulnerable women and children in the state.
“In two years of inception, the APC led- administration had empowered thousands of women across the state through the provision of soft loans or cash donations for improving their livelihood.
She reiterated the commitment of Governor Masari toward the uplifting socio-economic status of women in the state.
The commissioner also urged women to form co-operative society, which according to her will enable them, acquaint soft loans from Microfinance banks and other SME’s funding institutions.
Earlier, the principal of the Women Multipurpose Centre, Fatimah Mohammed, urged the state government to provide more training equipment in the center.
“The women multipurpose needed more training equipment to train more women in skill acquisition.
“Many women want to be trained in the area of handicrafts, but we lack the facilities to cover all of them,” the commissioner said.
The acting Sole Administrator, Kaita Local Government Area, Ummah Abdullahi, advised the beneficiaries to make proper use of the equipment given to them.
