The member representing Mashi/Dutsi Federal Constituency, Mansur Ali Mashi, has appealed the judgment of an election petition tribunal that ordered INEC to re-conduct election in 15 polling units of the constituency. Daily trust reports
His lawyer, Barrister Ernest Obunadike, said already briefs of arguments were before the court and the case was coming up today in Kaduna.
He said his client was challenging the judgment on 11 grounds.
Speaking separately, Mansur Mashi said he still remained the member representing the constituency according to Section 143 of the Nigerian Constitution “and I’m optimistic of a favorable judgment from the appeal.”
According to him, the 15 polling units in contention were out of the 266 polling units in the constituency, adding that “their total votes is about 8500 which cannot change the general result of the whole constituency if added up.”
