‘The Changi Boys’ ran riot in the early minutes of the encounter by mounting early pressure which made their opponents jittery and eventually got their first goal on 22nd minutes from the penalty spot.

Tasiu Lawal dribbled past two defenders and supplied a clever cut-back into the goal area of Nasarawa United for Eric Dufegha, but he was hacked down by a defender and the referee pointed at the penalty spot.

Muhammed Hussaini stepped forward and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to give Katsina United an important lead.

‘The Chanji Boys’ continued to dominate the game with crisp passes across the pitch.

Three minutes later, Eric Dufegha compounded the wows of Nasarawa United with a well-taken strike to double Katsina United advantage.

Katsina United could have got their second penalty on 42nd minutes after Tasiu Lawal was hacked down in the box after he had dribbled past two of his markers, but the referee waved play on.

However, Nasarawa United responded well and could have reduced the deficit on 43rdminutes, but a goal-bound strike by Zenke was deflected to safety by Muhammed Hussaini.

Coach Kabiru Dogo threw more attackers into the fray in the second half and enjoyed more possession, but could not get the breakthrough.

Katsina United goalkeeper Boje Abdullahi, who was arguably on holiday and barely made a save in the first half, put up a five-star performance with fabulous saves to keep Nasarawa United at bay as the game ended 2-0 in favor Katsina United.
