Gov’t College Funtua students emerged Nigeria’s ‘most outstanding’ innovators

Five students of Government College Funtua, Katsina State, have emerged as the overall winner of the outstanding innovation in Solar Energy contest in the just concluded National Science and Technological exhibition.

The exhibition, organised the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria, took place at the African University of Science and Technology (AUST) Abuja on November 13,2017.

The students – Zaharadden Sulaiman, Shu’aibu Yusuf, Ahmad Saidu, Mustapha Kabir and Suleiman Yusuf all of Senior Secondary III, developed and presented a multi-purpose solar thermal collector system which can serve as a water heater, distiller, incubator, drier and a catalyser.

Katsinapost.com learnt that the students were able to develop and present the project with the help of their Project supervisor, Malam Yazid Rafindadi which is now drawing national and International recognition.

Earlier, the same set of students had under the supervision of their project supervisor, went to USA where they came third and Tunisia where they also came third with other innovative designs.
