Information reaching Katsinapost.com.ng has it that the National Association of National Students (NANS) Zone ‘A’, which is the apex body of the over 2 million Nigerian Students has write an open letter to the Vice Chancellor of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina, the Director Security Services and Commissioner of Police of Katsina States to investigate what they called an unlawful, inappropriate and unconstitutional removal of the Students’ Representative Council of the University.

It may be recalled that the Students Representative Council has passed a vote of no confidence on the University’s Acting Dean Students Affairs after which they were dissolved by the school senate.

Below is the letter from NANs as received by katsinapost.com.ng.

“OPEN LETTER TO THE VC UMUY KATSINA

The Vice Chancellor,
Umaru Musa Yaradua University,
Katsina,
Professor Idris Isah Funtua,

Attention to:
Director Security Services
Katsina State
Commissioner of Police Force
Katsina State Command

Dear Sir,

*APPEAL TO ENSURE APPROPRIATE INVESTIGATION ABOUT THE INAPPROPRIATE REMOVAL OF YOUR SUG PRESIDENT*

With regards to the above subject matter, I write from the Secretariat of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS Zone A) to appeal to you to further investigate the unjust, untimely, and inappropriate removal of the SUG President of your University.

Sir, according to our own version of the story which is closer to the reality is that your SUG President was removed simply because he raised an alarm and stood his feet that things must change.

You could remember that sometime within last month, a snake has bitten one student of yours; an incident which led to her instant death. For that, and many other incidences that didn’t get the public attention, the SUG President of your School demanded that things be improved, he proposed safety measures for his people.

Instead of adhering to his advice or at best shun them, the Dean of Students’ Affairs,  preferred to silence him by removing him from the Office even when its against the Constitutional Provision of the Institution.

Sir, with due respect, NANS (Zone A) demands the immediate investigation and reinstating of the SUG President. Failure to do the needful will result to other ways of resolving conflicts.

May Allah help you as you stand to be just in your dealings.

Yours,
Anass Muhammad Sani
