Katsina ex-Governor Shema’s seized assets valued over N86.2bn – EFCC

In an affidavit against the application filled by Katsina ex- Governor Shema challenging the EFCC on the interim forfeiture of 18 properties belonging to him, the EFCC Lawyer in person of O. I. Uket stated that the seized assets were valued at over N86.2 billion.
EFCC lawyer, O.I. Uket told Justice Kolawole of the court that it was imperative that the order he granted be upheld in order to preserve the assets pending the disposition of the criminal charges filed against the defendant.
It could be recalled that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted interim final forfeiture of eighteen houses belonging to the former Katsina state Governor , Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Shema.
According to a reliable document sighted by Peoples Daily, the order was granted following application for the final forfeiture by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the Katsina state government.
Also, Justice Kolawole of the court has granted interim forfeiture of thirteen other houses belonging to Shema, according to the document.
