Information reaching us at Katsinapost.com.ng has it that the Management of the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina has on Friday the 3rd of November 2017 dissolved the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the institution.
This is contained in a letter signed by the University’s Establishment Secretary, Halima I. Safana for Registrar and addressed to the President of the SRC, Comrade Ishaq Abubakar.
Though, the content of the letter stated that the dissolution of the SRC followed after the expiration of the Executive’s tenure But, a Senator in the SRC who pleaded anonymity lambasted that this decision was taken after the feud that happened between the Students’ apex body and the Acting Dean of the Students Affairs.
It may be recalled that, the dissolved Students Representative Council earlier last week passed a vote of no confidence on the University’s Acting Dean Students Affairs, Dr. Sulaiman Sani Kankara.
The SRC’s affirmed that Dr. Kankara is just serving his own interest at the detriment of UMYUK Students. In a press release from the office of the SRC’s President; Comrade Ishaq Abubakar, the Students’ Council also accused Dr. Kankara for 1. violating female’s students right to privacy by entering into their hall of residence without notice. 2. Lack of manner and compassion to students. 3. Restricting students’ Representative to discharge their obligatory duties. Among others.
