The leadership of the National Conscience Party (NCP), yesterday, gave  Governor Bello Masari of Katsina State 24 hours ultimatum to order the release of its state Chairman, Abdulmumini Shehu Sani.
The NCP National Chairman, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, told newsmen in Abuja that the party would “mobilise against the Katsina Government” if Sani was not released.
Dr. Tanko, a former Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), said Sani had been in the custody of the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for one week without genuine reasons.
According to him, the politician was arrested for consistently giving constructive criticism to the Masari administration.
“The action of the APC-led government in Katsina State against our state Chairman, Sani, is totally unacceptable. This is impunity; it is contrary to the tenets of democracy.
“We, therefore, demand for unconditional release of Sani by the state CID so that he will continue with his political activities in that state,” Tanko said.
He confirmed that the matter was already in court and that the NCP would do all it took “to stop impunity” in the state.
