Reports reaching us at katsinapost.com has it that the Katsina State Chairman of the National Concious Party (NCP) Alhaji Abdulmuminu Shehu is currently in detention for almost a week with the State CID.
This we learnt is under the order of Katsina magistrate court presided by Magistrate Nura El-Ladan over alleged character defamation on person of Honorable Danlami Sani, memeber representing Katsina Local government at the National House of Representatives.
It could be recalled on the 27thof August, 2017 the said Abdulmumin Shehu wrote a letter to Economic and Financial Crimes commission and Hon. Sani Aliyu Danlami over constitutional breech and unlawful act by the member.
In his letter he made mentioned that the member mismanaged over Fifty Million Naira (N50, 000,000) through one Nura Ambursa in respect of inherited projects left by the late Umar Sheik under the project National development agency.
But later on, Hon. Sani Aliyu Danlami responded to Abdulmumini via his council Alheri law Chambers accusing him of character defamation, threat, intimidation and attempt to extort money from the member and urged him to retract his alleged statement against Sani Danlami within 7 days using 2 print and electronic media outlets and failure to do that will result to legal action against Abdulmumini Shehu.
On the 12 thof September, Abdulmumini acknowledged the letter sent by Danlami’s council debunking their accusations and certified that he still stands on his earlier demand for explanation by the member otherwise EFCC will have to be involved.
On the 27 thof October, 2017 Abdulmumini Shehu was arraigned in magistrate court in GRA katsina over failure to retract his alleged accusation against Hon. Danlami over his fundamental human right to demand for clarification from the lawmaker.
In the court, the council to the accused Barr. C. U Kalu argued that the council to Danlami should provide in details where Abdulmumini in his letter threatened, defame, intimidate and attempt to extort money form the legislator. He urged the council to provide and state where the offense took place taking into cognizant the contents of Shehu’s petition.

The accused council Barr Kalu notified the magistrate that since the accused has submitted same letter to EFCC, the court should allow EFCC to finish investigation before taking legal action against his client. He further said the outcome of EFCC’s ongoing investigation will determine whether his client is guilty or not.
However, Despite failing to provide necessary details on where the accused defame, threat, intimidate and attempt to exhort money from the lawmaker, the Magistrate court overruled their motion and ordered that the accused be detained under the custody of the police pending investigation.
