A new 60MVA power transformer commissioned  in FUNTUA, Katsina


As part of the All Progressives Congress led government plans to reduce the challenges of generation and distribution of power supply in Nigeria, the minister of power , works and housing , Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola has commissioned two power transformers in Kaduna and Katsina state.

Speaking while commissioning a 40MVA Mobile Transformer in Zaria, Kaduna State and the 60MVA Power Transformers in Funtua, Katsina state, Fashola said it was part of how the ministry empowered Transmission Company of Nigeria “to procure for urgent deployment to overloaded Transmission substation nationwide.”

Represented by the Minister of State Power Works and Housing , Mustapha Baba Shehuri at the occasion, he said the 40MVA mobile substation was brought to Zaria for immediate installation and commissioning to ameliorate the “precarious suppressed load challenge in the substation.”

In Funtua, Katsina State, the Minister said his ministry had empowered TCN to procure and install 60MVA power transformers in order to replace faulty ones in the system, adding that the ongoing upgrade and reinforcement of the generating stations would increase the capacity of substations to distribute energy throughout the country.

Additionally talking amid the official appointing of a portable 40MVA power transformer, the Chairman of Kaduna Electricity Distribution PLC, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar has called for more noteworthy coordinated effort between the TCN and the circulation organizations for viable conveyance of subjective power supply to the Nigerian open.
